- "VIVEZ
HEUREUX EN ARDECHE"
- "ENJOY LIFE
IN THE ARDECHE"
-
- This is what the billboards along the road to the Ardèche proclaim.
Truly,
the Ardèche, named after the river which runs through its
southern part, is one of the most beautiful areas in
France.
The
"Vallée de l'Ardèche" is
best known and attracts tourists in their thousands every year.
The northern part is more tranquil, however. Pine forests, bisected by rivers such as the
Doux, the Eaux Noire and the Daronne characterize the landscape. Rustic towns and villages
adorn the surroundings. The people here raise cattle for a living and in the valleys fruit
and vegetables are grown.
An ideal place for those who enjoy nature and outdoor activities rather than the thrill of
visiting bars, dancing's and disco's. Visiting one of the regular markets or rummage sales
in the neighbourhood can be a surprisingly interesting event.
